Razor clams
I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my starter before I ate it! Razors clambs for me: in a simple parsley and butter sauce that complimented their freshness. Razor's clams are really one of the best crustacean's you can get on a plate, almost squid like but with a lovely softness in the middle. Would like to get mussels and razor's clams in the same pot some time!
Christina had 'Tempura Battered Squid' (aka Calamari), though the tempura battered was really a lovely subtle difference to Calamari. Actually really made the popular deep fried Italian dish improved by the lightness of the Japanese fluffy batter. A lovely dish to have if you are a serious Calamari coniseur and would like to taste a lovely variation. Best of all, a very light sweet chilli sauce was served with it that really made it a five star fusion dish.
I think Christina won this round (just barely because of the chef's inventiveness), but the main course was still to come... (next picture).
