My first chevron...

My first chevron blanket...

It is a emotional thing...

I have made this pattern before in a few cushions but I have never made a blanket...

A blanket is everything...and more...

My grandma made these blankets...my mum still makes these blankets...

But I have never...

I have put off...It is something that signifies memories, emotions and age...

I have not been ready to take up the challenge...To make something that has become a family tradition...

Why all of a sudden do I think I am ready now...

As I crochet this blanket I get all sentimental...

Maybe it's just a feeling that is hard to describe and put into words...

I was just thinking yesterday, whilst finishing Granny Square pillow number 324 (just kidding) that I need to branch out and try some chevron crochet, which I haven't done since the 1970's. You have inspired me!

I think it is time to take on the challenge - so wonderful to share this through the generations and hard to accept that you are now part of the generation that keeps the traditions and holds that part of family safe ready to pass it on when the time is right.

    Thank you all so much...
You have made me feel so special...

Sassi-sketti, Dottie(Tif) is such an inspiration...
If I hadn't have found her all those years ago and became friends across the ocean
I don't know what I would be doing now...Her blog is just peachy perfect to me...in every way...

Aw, Michelle, that is so sweet. I am sentimental as you, and I understand the range of emotions something like this can bring. Your blanket is lovely, and you will be happy you took the challenge. :-)
