The Couple at the Depot - Lamy, New Mexico

The world is enchanting when viewed from a train window. Truth is, it’s always enchanting, but we’re too darn busy, or too tired or stressed to take notice.

Yet sitting in a comfy chair in a lounge car, facing big picture windows that look out on the world rolling past, there is, at last, time for the slow careful gaze.

This scene grabbed me and made me smile: a couple standing in front of the Lamy depot looking at the train. She is so stylish and his smile is so big. Then there are the sweet New Mexico touches: the tile roof and the chile peppers hanging in ristras to dry.

It’s just a moment, in a day, in a life. Those two have a story and now they are a part of mine. And if you read this and understand what I mean, they are a part of yours too.

So goodnight Lamy couple by the depot ... and goodnight Mr. Calabash, wherever you are. 😉 Remember: Life is good.
