Narrow Point of View
Cottonwood Narrows Canyon features a lightly visited, but nonetheless beautiful and easy to navigate slot canyon. It may not feature all of the dramatic twists, turns and various pastel shades of the classic Antelope Canyons, but has plenty to offer...and you'll likely have it all to yourself. In spots, this canyon is wide open and relatively shallow and in other spots it narrows down with sensuously sculpted walls.
Located along the Cottonwood Road about five miles south of Grosvenor Arch and not far from Kodachrome State Park (just love that name), the Cottonwood Narrows is situated across from a grouping of some amazingly colorful hillsides which are well worth spending time photographing in late afternoon. Cottonwood Road is very rough and rutted and a high clearance suv is just about a necessity unless you have a death wish for your rental Lexus. After heavy rains the road is completely impassable and extremely dangerous; hence, you will likely find it closed for long periods during rainy spells.
