Glowing Coals of Our Campfire

Because bringing in campfire wood even from a short distance away can introduce new tree viruses and detructive insects, the new rule of campfires is to always use local wood. The Campground Host of Redwood Campground had hundreds of cords available, and in Sequoia National Forest, it is okay to gather deadwood from the forest surrounding the campsite. That's how much worse it is to bring in outside wood!
