This is a last call for submissions to our News 21/ American Dream project.
News 21 (newsinitiative.org) is a consortium of top journalism schools - UC Berkeley, Columbia, Northwestern, USC and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government - which is funded by the Carnegie and Knight Foundations. Our distributing partner is National Public Radio. Our work will appear on our website at newsinitiative.org, and it will also be featured content on NPR's main website.
The consortium's project this year is the 2008 election, and our Berkeley reporters are doing a package of stories on the American Dream, from both domestic and international perspectives. In addition to adhering to the highest standards of traditional journalism, our project is also stressing journalistic innovation -- ways in which we expand the sources of our reporting.
That's where Flickr comes in. We are extending an invitation to you to show us what America, and the American Dream, looks like to you.
We won't put any preconceptions on what those images would be. They could be iconic -- the arch in St. Louis, say, or Mount Rushmore -- or they could be highly individual -- they could give an idea of a place and an idea from a very individualistic point of view.
You can submit your photos to our group pool here
Please include the tag NEWS21 on all your photos, and it would be great if you'd geotag them, as well. We'll eventually select several dozen photos to be included on one of the main pages of the project, and ALL your submissions will be available via a feed from our site.
Thanks so much for your help, and I hope we can have some fun with the project!
