Nordic Skating
Nordic skating is ice skating with special blades attached with cross-country ski bindings to ski boots. The longer blades help to carry the skater over less-than-smooth "wild" ice, and can even cut through an inch or two of light snow. Special ice poles can be used for propulsion, help in balance, and/or for testing ice thickness and quality.
