Seven Sisters

    Newer Older

If you ever go to the Seven Sisters on your travels, I recommend June and July after 20:00, because the angle of the sun casts deep shadows on the cliffs. Get there an hour early. I chose behind the cottages as my vantage point for this picture.

So unusual! love the colors, beautiful

The cause of the unusual light was a combination of two factors: the angle of sunlight, casting deep shadows on the cliffs and bands of cumulus clouds abruptly forming when the moist sea air was uplifted by the 75 metre high cliffs. The sky was clear out to sea.

You're most welcome. As you've probably read in the comments, the best time to visit the Seven Sisters is in June and July after 7pm, especially during unsettled weather. The sun at an angle casts deep shadows on the cliff face.
