Lavender

Explored # 269 Sunday 19th July 2009.

In the language of flowers, the meaning of lavender was 'mistrust', as according to folklore, poisonous snakes would lie underneath the bushes, so the plant came to be distusted by people. The name 'lavender' comes from the word 'lavare' meaning to wash and for thousands of years, lavender has been used for that purpose.
