Red Velvet Cupcake Amigurumi

A shy little cupcake all decked out in her "Sunday Best" (with a flower hat!) for a party...

Made as a birthday gift for a friend who liked red velvet cake. It was very rushed, and I had about 2 minutes to photograph. I wanted to make the top have sprinkles, but my large seed beads have gone missing, and I didn't have time to sew on sprinkles, so I just made a flower out of embroidery floss.

Simliar patterns are probably all over the internet, but I made mine up:

With color A (the color for the inside of the flower)

Ch 6, sl st to form a ring

Sc 12 into ring, sl st to beginning sc

*Change to Color B (petals)*

*Ch 11, sl st in next sc* Repeat until the end of the ring- you will have 12 petals

Sl st in first sc, and bind off

Cupcake pattern is from Hannah Kamisky's BitterSweet Blog at: bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/08/14/bake-me-a-cake/

I'm a bit disappointed with myself because my cupcake didn't turn out like hers...maybe if i get back into crocheting my amigurumi will look better again. I also took the last row off the base because it looked too long for the frosting.

I used Red Heart Super Saver in Red and Cream (it looks white because of the lighting) and DMC embroidery floss for the flower.

Edited using picnik! I haven't used this in so long...somehow forgot how to soften the edges at first and had to look at old pics :/ I don't think anyone noticed, but I tried to edit this picture so that it parallels my other cupcake...

I am VERY greatful for picnik, though. I took this picture around 6, and because of Daylight Savings, it was dark outside, and I only have a little table light, so the original picture barely showed the cupcake. This picture still isn't too great, but it's an improvement.
