Another painting that looks like a photograph. It takes me away to a different time and place before I was born. Remember, this was during WW2, when many Americans' thoughts wandered across the seas and wondered if loved ones would ever return.

In my opinion, Andrew Wyeth is the greatest of all artists of the 20th century.

I can't objectively judge, because I very much like his art. Wyeth's artistic skill is extremely high, in that he is on a par with the greatest masters of the past, such as Jan van Eyck, maybe Vermeer. This is not just a "photographic eye" or a meticulous jeweler work, it's a special understanding of the visual side of life.

He has breathed new life into the "realism". In 20th century, Andrew Wyeth just doesn't compare with anyone - especially with those artists-businessmen whose names are more important and expensive than content of their "five-minute" paintings.
