Abandoned Railroad Right-of-Way between Fannett and Winnie, Texas 1209031747BW
The former ATSF, now BNSF, Railway right-of-way between Fannett and Winnie was abandoned in 1962 and its track is being pulled up, starting at the Winnie end and is nearly gone until righ at Fannett.
My interest in the righ-of-way is in its role as part of the rail service that once ran between Port Bolivar, through High Island and Winne, to Beaumont.
The route was abandoned between Port Bolivar and High Island in 1942, and between High Island and Winnie in the 60s.
Unless I see evidence of some visible remnant between High Island and Port Bolivar, I'm probably through exploring the route.
