British & Argentine Meat co

In 1914 River Plate fresh meat co had 500 shops,James Nelson had 1200 shops, They joined that year to form The British & Argentine Meat co & traded successfuly till 1923 when they were taken over by Vestey,s Union Cold Storage co to join their Eastmans/ Dewhurst chain

Vestey had already acquired W&R Fletcher & The Argenta meat co giving them 2,356 shops in total,

Union International which is what the Vestey group traded as had & B&A in Bridgwater until the 40,s & Bristol & Newton Abbot in the 50,s,Other names were Roberts & Fletcher in the West Country, Hammett in London & Alex munro in Scotland.
