Baroness Jean Coussins

This week (Wednesday, 24 February) Baroness Jean Coussins, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Modern Languages, will deliver a lecture at the University of Salford about the importance of learning and using modern languages.

The lecture Parlez-Vous Zulu? is part of a series marking the 25th anniversary of Salford’s MA Translation programme by exploring the wider importance of language for society.

Baroness Jean Coussins, who was created a life peer in 2007 and sits as a crossbencher in the House of Lords, read modern languages (French and Spanish) at Newham College, Cambridge, from 1970-1973.
