amazing! i wish it were practical for him to have a base to stand on, b/c that would make it even more awesome! (also, doubters, it's totally real... you can see fleshtone up his sleeve where the makeup stops)

I hope no 10 year old sets him on fire, that's what I did with my army men!

Oh my gosh! I would beg your friend to please post instructions on that!!! How did he get the paint, make up and fabric all the same color?

      It's genius!

You can totally tell this is real. So incredibly awesome! I have to try something like this one day.
There was this person on Halloween who dressed up just like this guy, WW2 everything (except the green-ness). He stood so freaking still and it was so dark that everyone who passed by thought he was a statue, seriously. People literally tried "toppling" him before he burst out laughing.

do you have details onto what he did to create this costume? the part that confuses me the most is the paint. was he brave enough to use spray paint for his face because the paint is so shiny. and if he did, did he just color match the spray paint and paint the tarp?

The shirt and pants were sewn from a camping base tarp purchased from Target. The belt is army surplus. The other accessories are toys ( helmet and gun) or found objects. Low VOC latex semi-gloss paint was matched to the tarp at Home Depot-- all painted with a couple of coats. The same paint was used on the hands and face. At the end of the evening, the painted peeled off. Two or three coats. The photos are real. Looked down with eyes closed and helmet low to cover eyes. .and yes....didn't paint high enough up the arms. You can search the web for others ( Flickr 2008 Henri David Ball). The dog is walking away showing rear legs and tail( its a greyhound). She was' Major Barbie'. ( her purse is army surplus). Won best Couple Costume at the Ball that year. The costume was a huge crowd pleaser-- was photographed hundreds of times that night.
