Roe deer in the nettles

#65 in Explore, 26th May 2009! :-)

I was so happy with this capture.

I was at Shapwick Heath nature reserve in Somerset when i noticed a deer in the undergrowth besides the path. It was moving slowly away from me with it's head lowered and out of view. It hadn't noticed me. I ran quietly down a side path to where it looked like the deer was heading and i hid behind a tree with my camera at the ready. Luckily the deer heard something and put it's head up for a split second, long enough for me to get this shot! :-)

Then it turned and fled into the woods!

This was a wild animal, not a tame park deer, so i was so happy to get the picture! It's one of my faves! :-)
