Tablelands

They are thought to be an upthrust slice of upper mantle and now rise up to 700 m above sea level. They are composed of peridotite which, being magnesium-rich and nutrient-poor, does not support much plant growth. The peridotite has weathered to a sandy brown colour, with evidence of serpentinite on some freshly exposed surfaces
