Seven-spot ladybug test shot with a 100mm lens plus at 12 mm extension tube, handheld. So far so good.
The dandelion-like plant it was on also had two Convergent Ladybugs and one other that was all red (no spots). It could have been C. californica. I couldn't get a decent photo of any of these other beetles at the time. I was surprised to find 4 beetles in plain sight, yet this time of year I wonder what they eat. I know they all love aphids, but I saw none. Perhaps there are lots of tiny insects and larva that we cannot see--but they can.
