Watch out there's a thief about!
We bought a bird feeding station at weekend, to attract the increasing number of birds we've seen recently - in particular some gold finches that we've not seen before this year. It was an instant hit with the birds and the next stage is to get some green garden netting for our gazebo to make a sort of hide, hoping to photograph the birds on the nearby branches, rather than the feeder itself. There are hooks for several feeders, a water tray and another tray for mealworms, etc - but this tray seems to have attracted some slightly less welcome visitors. The tray seems popular with crows, pigeons and magpies, who scare off the smaller birds - then yesterday evening, I spotted this and managed to grab my camera and head for the back door! This tray has now been removed!
A couple more shots below - none of these are great shots technically speaking. The first one below was taken through my kitchen window - but I just loved the pose, with the tail resting on the water tray for extra balance. The second a very quick shot of a rather scruffy blue tit, tucking into the popular fat and insect block feeder!
