Secret Beach Sunset
Sonoma Coast State Beach, Goat Rock entrance.
A geologist I met (unverified personal communication)
said that the cliffs to the right and behind me are the sea weathered banks of the old course of the Russian River and it's flood plain, now entering the ocean to the north, just beyond the second ridge line.
This is the "classic" velvia look, under low light conditions ("magic hour"), a "look" that changed forever our view of the natural world. In photoshop the overall magenta cast was corrected with a "match color" adjustment and checking the neutralize box. Shadow detail was enhanced with tone specific curve adjustment layers. The highlights (the sky) was "darkened" with the scanner's software (like adjusting a Raw file when preparing a viewable image file.)
My wife jokingly(?) said this looked very "Kinkade".
