White-crowned Sparrow (juvenile)

This young sparrow was hopping around with it's 2 siblings chasing after the parent bird. You can see the "white crown" forming on the top of its head.

The White-crowned Sparrow is a common year round resident of Victoria. They have a length of 6 1/2 - 7 inches (16-18cm), a wingspan of 9 1/2 - 10 inches (24-26cm) and can live up to 13 years. They forage for seeds, insects, fruit, buds and even grass. Photo taken at Fort Rodd Hill in Victoria, British Columbia.
