With nothing much on the other day I thought I might as well pop out for the afternoon freightathon on the line between March and Ely. Eliminating the "cancelled" and not required" workings from those shown on Realtime Trains still left six scheduled between one-thirty and three. Everything was running like clockwork and all trains appeared within a few minutes of right time. I'd given myself an ample allowance of time to drive to my chosen vantage point and arrived half an hour before the first of the trains was due. There was a 24-minute gap between the fifth and sixth trains. Having eaten nothing since breakfast I was feeling a bit peckish and was tempted to pack it in and head for home after the fifth. I'm glad I stuck it out though: this pleasing shot of the final train, the 12:13 Doncaster Europort-Felixstowe South paid me back for the wait.
