Bird's Eye View (Bird's Eyes) Crop

Unlike the Terns which often have a dark spot next to their eye which makes it look like their eye is open when it's closed, these guys have a totally dark area around a black eye which makes it hard to see the eye at all (open or closed). Of all the ducks on the pond these guys were among the most fearless, and approached within about 50 feet (15 meters) after about 30 minutes in the blind. The order of proximitely of all the species present was (Mute Swans, Mallards, Wigeons, Shovelers, Gadwal, and (smallest / farthest / shiest) Ring-necks. - Cape May Lighthouse State Park, Cape May, New Jersey
