We went to Kodanad, which is 50 miles from Fort Kochi. There, in the Periyar River, we gave bath to a couple of baby elephants. These are orphaned elephants that got lost from their group during the monsoon season. They are then captured and brought to this camp where they heal, get healthy and then are slowly domesticated. They are then ready to be used in temples for religious purposes.

This one is a three-year old boy. He is the latest addition to the group. He is very playful and still had a lot of "wildness" in him. And his mahout seems to play with him as well.
