Mt Kate Station
Mt. Kate Station lies a short distance from the Dove Lake car park at Cradle Mountain, and provides an idea opportunity for the photographer, as it is very near the road which leads into Dove Lake. It is owned by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, and is used as staff accommodation at peak times.
I have employed the same finishing process to this shot as I have for those shots that I am working on for my portfolio project for the Hobart Photographic Society - colour layer with a B&W layer at 65-75% opacity, which gives this muted colour look. I did this to this shot, as the B&W version lacks tonal punch & seperation between the light-coloured grass and the old fence.
All this was done following an exposure blend (not HDR) in Photomatix. All adjustments beyond this were done in Nikon Capture NX2 (selective levels and d-lighting, sharpening and mono conversion & blending).
