Henryton State Hospital

Prev Next

These were taken on my first trip to Henryton State Hospital, on my first real urbex trip.

From 2:30pm to 4:40pm me and a group of friends explored the buildings, and over that time I took about 550 photos.

I've never had so many photographic opportunities around me at once. The environment was a real challenge to shoot in, because of the constantly varying lighting conditions. Overall it was a very fun and rewarding experience though.

To our surprise, there were about 3-5 other groups roaming the hospital grounds at any given moment. People on rooftops, stairways, and even whole families. This place must have ZERO security on weekend afternoons.

Sadly this place, because of it's accessibility and notoriety, is horribly vandalized and run down. In an abandoned building you expect decay and such, but this place was downright beaten; no toilet or window left unbroken, and no wall left untagged.

I saw this picture on StumbleUpon. I was pretty excited that I had seen it before.
