This weeks FeatheryFridays theme is Birds4Ever. (this Duck is not Delores Duck, i dont have a picture of her).

1. A bird that touches your heart.

2. A little story about you and how that bird makes you feel.

3. Why you think you're gonna love Birds4Ever!

Delores Duck

I grew up in a household with lots of animals, mostly dogs and cats, but also a duck, bunny, hamster, bird...... my mom (Delores) was one of those people that stray animals just knew to come to our house and she would take care of them. I can not begin to know how many times we stopped our car to pick up strays. I will tell you about our duck. We had gone to my dad’s work picnic some distance from our house. There was a pond with ducks. My mom was very sad, all of the ducks were not nice to this one duck. As we were leaving the duck kept following us. My mom insisted we take the duck home. My dad finally agreed under one condition, we name the duck Delores Duck! I remember riding home in our station-wagon and having a duck on the seat next to us. It was very friendly. We set up a little pool for her to play in. She was happy, over time my dad was not. The problem was Delores Duck would ONLY go poop on the porch. She would walk off the grass onto the porch to poop! After some time. my mom found a nice pond nearby. I remember the day we released Delores Duck; we were not allowed to leave till my mom was sure the other ducks accepted her. They did.

Since getting my camera my love of birds has grown, sitting outside watching them, riding in my car always looking for birds, seeing them up close on the computer screen, what is there not to love? Also, to me, they are a wonderful part of God’s creation!
