Listed in Harden as a dry rainforest species in some parts of its range.
There are two subspecies. This one is probably Brachychiton populneus subsp.populneus since Brachychiton populneus subsp.trilobus occurs further north.

John this species, like B.rupestris,is mainly a tree of inland woodland and scrub but sometimes also in dry rainforest and vine thickets in the east.
Another reason I wanted to add this to the group is that this species hybridizes with B.acerifolius and B.rupestris to produce some interesting hybrids.I have created a special gallery which includes Hybrid Brachychiton species here.
