Summer Harvest

I've been meaning to get down to this part of Kent for a couple of years. I finally made it this morning but I think really I was about a week late - they're in the middle of the harvest already! A few days ago and the field on the right in the background would have been all purple. Still, it was probably the easiest photograph I've made in a long time. The location of this particular field is right by the side of the road, I had to walk all of 20 metres.

It's not really the usual type of photograph I like to make. It's a bit "rule-of-thirdsy." The composition is too obvious, but with no public access into the filed at this time of the morning, my options were limited.

Something I was considering was losing the two white kiosks in Photoshop, but as they are there throughout the lavender bloom they become a semi-permanent part of the landscape. Because of this I left them in. Did I do the right thing?

Thanks Don. I just missed out on this: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3207224... to be honest I'm not too bothered as I'm still reeling from the effects of having to buy a new car unexpectedly. I'll keep you posted.

Beautiful image. I think the kiosks add a bit of interest to the middle ground.

But I love that it's rule-of-thirdsy!! Magnificent view. And the tones in the sky go so well with the lavender.

Really nice shot Nigel, it doesn't matter that it was 'handed on a plate' at the side of the road. I would personally lose the 2 white huts, they catch my eye a bit too much.

Thanks Paul. I took your advice and got rid of some of the clutter. I've posted it here. 500px.com/photo/1212860. It's so much better for it.
