I've been meaning to get down to this part of Kent for a couple of years. I finally made it this morning but I think really I was about a week late - they're in the middle of the harvest already! A few days ago and the field on the right in the background would have been all purple. Still, it was probably the easiest photograph I've made in a long time. The location of this particular field is right by the side of the road, I had to walk all of 20 metres.
It's not really the usual type of photograph I like to make. It's a bit "rule-of-thirdsy." The composition is too obvious, but with no public access into the filed at this time of the morning, my options were limited.
Something I was considering was losing the two white kiosks in Photoshop, but as they are there throughout the lavender bloom they become a semi-permanent part of the landscape. Because of this I left them in. Did I do the right thing?
