130/365 - Cristo Redentor
The day after Christmas (Boxing Day in the UK) we went up to Corcovado to see the Cristo Redentor. I've been to Rio three times now and still hadn't been up to see this, so it was imperative that I did it on this trip. The day was brutally hot, and there were a ton of people up there so it wasn't the most pleasant experience but it really is a sight to behold.
I think this is probably the coolest "thing" I've ever seen in a city. It's just massive, and it's so well placed on the mountain that when I'm driving around Rio and I see it up there it gives me the chills (good chills that is). This particular photo I took severely under-exposed to give the silhouette effect. I really like the sun behind his head, it creates a really cool halo.
This was recently voted one of the "New 7 wonders of the World." It's really an awesome sight to behold.
