Pre-dawn on Lake Champlain from Valcour Island in New York's Adirondack Park. A 30 second exposure, I used my hiking light to illuminate the rocks for 4 seconds to give them some definition.

Valcour Island can only be reached by boat which limits the number of visitors. Good for preserving the beauty of the island, but people are missing out on this jewel in the Adirondacks. If you are feeling adventurous, but don't have a boat, you can rent a kayak from the nice people at They are located less then a half mile from the Peru landing. Fro the Peru landing it's a 30 minute paddle to the island. Just check the weather before you go. If you are a novice kayaker like me you want the winds to be 6 mph or less.
