(1204) Preserved Bedford 'Green Goddess' - Royal Air Force livery - PGW 163

Preserved Bedford 'Green Goddess' - PGW 163 - Royal Air Force livery - 'Operation Fresco', the last national fire strike. I was based at Bury Drill Hall escorting the Royal Navy Firefighters from Plymouth. They were proper Navy Firefighters as opposed to the troops who got quick training to ride the Goddesses. The troops were all fretting as they were missing the training and familiarisation in anticipation of going to Iraq for the Gulf war. They were a great bunch and we had a laugh with them all. We even had a visit from General Sir Mike Jackson! Their cutting equipment and BA etc was stored in cages on a Ford Transit flatbed with a single blue roof beacon stuck on and red stripes added to the sides!
