      Nnenn, they are towballs.

      Did you have to mod the towball? All mine are attached to stuff. Either way very nice set.

      Thanks, guys!...(c:
      Tbone, yeah, I cut off the towballs from the plates....(c;
      I could have done the pawns in a purist way too, with just regular round plates, but I decided the towball pieces were nicer....(c:

      I never use those pieces anyway. So personally I think it is worth the cutting.

      Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Blogged by The Brothers Brick, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

      Oh, very nice.

      For black pawns, you could use this piece so they don't have to be modded and just find something else for the white.

      Great creation, very clever, although not a fan of cutting up pieces, I'd love to have a game on this set!

      Gorgeous Chess set! I'd love to see the original.

      Btw, this would be perfect in this month's Classic-Castle Challenge. We are exploring all things Chess.

      Thanks, guys, I really appreciate your comments! I don't like cutting pieces either, but in this case I made an exception. The towball pieces are really cheap, and I built this set to play with my non-Lego friends. So I was going more for functionality and familiarity for them, rather than for LEGO purism. But the pawns can certianly be built in a purist way as well....(c:
