Fairy Pools (2)
Fairy Pools, Coire na Creiche, Cuillins, Isle of Skye.
This is probably one of the favourite locations for photographers on the Isle of Skye, where the Allt Coir a' Mhadaidh flows through Coire na Creiche via a series of wee falls and mini gorges. Not only do the falls provide endless opportunities for the photographer, but the stunning backdrop of the Cuillin Ridge adds the compositional "icing on the cake".
For the non-cognoscenti, the peaks from left to right are: the shoulder of Sgurr na Bhairnich, An Caisteal, Sgurr an Fheadain (split by the Waterpipe Gully which, until the "discovery" of the Clachaig Gully in Glencoe, was the longest gully climb in Britain), Bidein Druim nan Ramh and Sgurr a' Mhadaidh. The flat bit between the last two is the Bealach na Glaic Moire, one of the few passes to provide access from the N side of the ridge to Loch Coruisk on the S side.
