      This is cool, to be sure, but if I am going to the trouble to separate my compostables, I want to keep them!

      I guess in a city there might not be as much practical possibility of that, given lack of arable land, but y'know.

      I guess the next question is where does all the compost go? Maybe you can go get it and bring it back?? research to follow.

      here's the main link about the program.

      ok, so all the compost the city collects goes to jepson prairie organics. As stated on that link, the compost is then used at local farms to grow local food that is eaten by local residents. seems like a good program to me, especially in a city where most people don't have a yard or the means to have a garden on their own.
