day 3: sun moon lake
we're on our way up the mountains to a place called sun moon lake, the largest natural lake in taiwan. by this time, the rest of the wife's extended family is either on their way to taipei or have already arrived. its our last full day on our own before funeral services begin. the significance isn't lost on me.
this is a shot of lalu island in the middle of the lake. considered sacred by the local folk, so nobody is allowed to set foot on it. the authorities have even gone so far as to erect a wooden walkway that goes all the way around it. legend has it that the island was created when a magic deer jumped into the lake and transformed into a floating patch of land.

photo notes: nikon 17-55 f2.8 on a d90. the cloud cover was causing light conditions to change very quickly. must've taken 3 or 4 shots in the span of a few minutes before the dynamic range was narrow enough to capture everything here.
