Schledehausen - Schelenburg 04

The photo shows the Schelenburg, a water castle in Schledehausen in the Osnabrück country.

The castle was mentioned in 1160 for the first time in a document, however, it is estimated at the 11th century. Their oldest part is the Gothic residential tower. He has a wall strength of 2.5 metres and stands on oaken posts. In the Middle Ages he was surrounded around by water and could be reached only over a ladder to the first floor.

The formerly several times graded ditch system around the castle arrangement is also partially received even today.
