West Portals, Cologne Cathedral

Elaborate Gothic carved arches above the entrance portals on the west facade of Cologne Cathedral in the city of Cologne, Germany. The center portal entrance (seen to the left in photo) is called the Petersportal, and it is the oldest doorway in the Cathedral, having been built between 1370 and 1380. Construction on Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) began in 1248 and was finally completed in 1880.
