Aglaonema "Christmas Day"

I finally found the name of this beautiful Aglaonema species. Aglaonema "Christmas Day" is a new cultivar from Thailand. The leaves are broadly oval, glossy, mostly red in the center with some green around the margin. The intensity of the red color depends on intensity of light. The leaf petioles are creamy white with a green tint. It is vigorous and strong-growing. It likes warmth, moderate to high humidity and bright light but not full sun.

Aglaonema is a genus of about 40 species of foliage plants in the family Araceae, native to the tropical swamps and rainforests of southeastern Asia from Bangladesh east to the Philippines and north to southern China.

The sap of this plant is poisonous to health. It causes irritation in skin and if taken orally causes irritation of mouth, lips throat and tongue.
