The White House
Many children dream of being the President of the United States... until they figure out it's one of the hardest and most stressful jobs in the world. Maybe children are attracted to the job for the power to change the world and/or the luxurious life style associated with being a world leader. It's not easy leading the most powerful nation on earth. One good reason why the President lives in such a beautiful, historic home.
An apparent urban legend is that the Stars and Stripes that flies atop the White House is only flown when the President is in town. For symbolic and security purposes, the flag is always flown whether or not the President is currently in Washington D.C.
This is a photograph of the White House's south lawn and portico taken from near the base of the Washington Monument in the National Mall.
