Howell Carnegie District Library
In 1902 Andrew Carnegie donated $10,000 to the town of Howell for a free public library, with the understanding that the city would support the library with no less than $1000 a year. The stone building was completed in 1906. A new building was added behind it in 1991 and the old building was restored.
I spent many an hour in the old building when I was young. The day I got my own library card was one of the proudest in my life.
