Trike wheel bearings June 2013
The winter seems to have gotten into the outer front wheel bearings - the wheels were squeaking intermittently. They are protected a little by the axle head, but I would have fitted a sealed bearing at this position. So I did!
My heat gun made short work of the job; heat the alloy, shock the hub with a rubber mallet, bearing drops out, new one drops in using the axle as a guide to keep it square.
Inner bearings fine, protected from the weather inside the hub unless I submerge them in the sea. I would also recommend a little grease of some sort behind the axle head.
