Guassa, Ethiopia 2007-2008
Pictures from the Guassa Plateau from when I lived there as project manager of the Guassa Gelada Research Project from 2007-2008. This Afro-alpine grassland located in the central highlands of Northern Shoa, Ethiopia. A bio-diversity hotspot, this unique landscape is home to several endemic animals including Gelada Monkeys (Theropithecus gelada), Ethiopian Wolves, Ethiopian Highland Hares, and a variety of bird and amphibian species. Located at ~3,200 - 3,700m in altitude, the Guassa plateau sits on the Western ridge of the great rift valley affording dramatic overlooks of the lowlands below.
