Gratorn กระท้อน fruit, Santol
Ran across this fruit today, and was very interested. The Gratorn is about the size of a large orange, with a leathery skin. You need a knife to cut open, and you have three or four large seeds, covered by a sweet covering of stringy fruit. It tastes wonderful, and is only in season for a few months out of the year. As we were driving up to a waterfall today, wife and I finished off 10 large mong koot มังคุด have the purple stains from the mong koot rind on my jean shorts to prove it, and then we started eating the Kratgon, and I was very impressed, they taste great.
Thank you Pongsak for helping me identify the fruit as Gratorn! Steve
Thanks to Pongsak's correction, found it on Wikipedia, and its called Wild Mangosteen, or Santol Guess now I understand why I like it so much, relative of the Mangosteen, or Mong Koot
