Steep Snow, Cache Col
I know, I know, this photo has little or no artistic merit. I just like how steep the terrain is. The fellow downslope is my friend Roger. We and three other friends were on the first leg of the famous Ptarmigan Traverse in the North Cascades mountains of Washington State. This area of steep snow and loose rock was the first of many challenges that we would handle over the next eight days.
I think we may actually have roped up right after this section.
It was pointed out to me by another person familiar with the area that there is evidence in the photo that the camera was "tilted" a little. Ok...Perhaps it was not really that steep, but it felt like it!
