Rocket Stoves, probably even this one, are more efficient cooking fires than campfires or most other stoves. Where wood is the main fuel they reduce the amount of smoke caused illness, they reduce deforestation and decrease cooking time.


This improvised stove is based on the one in the Rotary video that uses adobe brick. This one is just slapped together but it works. I used some refractory bricks I'd recovered from a house that was to be torn down and finished it off with regular bricks I had sitting around. The divider on which the sticks rested is a flattened Dr Pepper can,
