May - Sailboat in a Log Cabin Block

    Newer Older

    Blogged: www.patchworkduck.com/2011/04/my-quilt-block.html

This month's Hip to Bee Square quilting bee featured orange and aqua blue fabrics, including beautiful Heather Ross fabrics!

We were asked to create one or two 12.5 inch quilt blocks in a wonky log cabin style or with a seaside theme. I went with both styles! This block features a pieced sailboat, and the other block features a happy little fish. I studied this quilt block pattern as an inspiration for creating the sailboat: www.allpeoplequilt.com/projects-ideas/baby-quilts/nautica...

The quilt blocks will be sewn into a quilt for a boy. I hope he enjoys it!

Oh, I love this block!! The boat is perfect, and I love how you used the fabrics. He's going to be up at night looking at all the little treats in this quilt! Thank you!
