Windows - Building Sideways Part 3

Prev Next

I'll have to admit being obsessed with these window variations lately. Especially the arched ones. The initial idea was to use SNOT techniques to better integrate these car fender parts when using them for details on buildings. The one shown here is similar to those in part one and two, but with some tricky building to achieve the thin part between the windows.

Stop making these! Every time you do I have to add something to my "fave" list!

I knew these reminded me of something... Which is something I took from Jonathan Lopes and modified to work in dark orange way back when. :D

These are great thought. You've taken the idea further and demonstrate it so neatly. Incidentally, what I really like about all of them is that they're about 3-wide which is, IMO, about the perfect width for most windows.

Lovely, especially the top one. I don't know how you can come up with this stuff, it's really quite brilliant.

    Thanks.
If only LEGO wouldn't have made those fender pieces so difficult to work with. ;-) Even though it's kind of fun to come up with these ways around it, you sometimes wish they could make some of the good car pieces a little less limited. Interesting SNOT math with the hanging fender in your example. I'll have to try that. I'm going to be stuck with these experiments for a while. There's a lot more ways to continue the rim of the fender all around the window. I'm building my next example right now.

^ The ridiculous way they attach is kind of pathetic. Why not just a 2x2 plate? Seriously every time I look at that part I get a bit angry.

Brilliant design. I wish I could find a Porthole window that looks that good!
