The Power Loader from Aliens

Newer Older

After building the Colonial Marine APC from Aliens I knew I had to build this as the second MOC in my series of cool stuff from Aliens.

There's a lot of challanges in the task of depicting the Power Loader for minifigs. How to capture the iconic look of a vehicle built around a human and with the human body as the guide for it's movement.

So, no arms alongside the robot arms and the joints for the lower legs is the knee and foot combined if you know what I mean. The hip joints is aligned to the hips of the fig, so that both fig legs and robot legs moves together.

The tubes from the arms is connected to clips on the back after posing the arms so that the arm position is locked in place.

A little disproportion around the arms, IMO. Still pretty sweet though!

This has to be the coolest and most accurate fig-scale version of the lifter I have ever seen.

Here's my version: www.flickr.com/photos/danlight/3950536532/. All of this Lego was bought pre-1990, which probably puts me at a bit of a disadvantage, so I'm calling this a power-lifter prototype :)

This is so awesome. Excellent work considering how constraining the minifig "anatomy" is.

Again I had to look hard to see that it was actually made of lego. Only the Minfig gave it away. Incredible work.

That's great! I really like this loader- the whole thing is one big "NPU." Awesome that you included an exploded view, too. One of my new favourite builders!
