Raison d'etre

The reason why we had visited Vass's yard at all, was nothing to do with old lorries, but to see a diesel locomotive that was here. This Hibberd 'Planet' 0.4.0DM (FH2151/40) had arrived from MOD Ruddington in 1968, being scrapped on site in 1976.

How did that get up there?
They look like ammo boxes in front of the train.

Useful looking loco. Pity it went to make bean tins.

tarboat At least it served for 28 years at Ruddington. Another loco that arrived at Vass, in 1966, was a 3-year old 0.6.0DH RH demonstrator; it was scrapped here in 1973.
